Statement and Conclusion Questions

• Statement: Smoking cannabis, a drug made from hemp plant, causes illness similar to smoking cigarettes, such as heart disease and cancer, but is far more dangerous than tobacco for mental health. Conclusions : I. Increase in cannabis smoking could lead to a surge in mental illness. II. Cannabis has effected on the body equal to that of cigarettes and worse on the mind.
• Statement: The traffic police of city 'X ' has launched a service under which the commuters can get to know about traffic diversions, pending challans or even the whereabouts of area traffic police officials by sending an SMS. Conclusions : I. The facility will allow the computers to get the latest traffic update. II. The move will increase the sale of cell phones enormously.
• Statement: The oil marketing companies have already decided to defer the fortnightly revision of petrol and diesel prices in view of volatility in world markets. Conclusions : I. Increase in diesel price may have a cascading effect on the entire gamut of products and services. II. The companies are worried that a sudden spurt in international prices of the diesel may upset earlier calculation over the next few weeks.

• Statement: Methylated spirit contains methyl alcohol, which is poisonous. Conclusions : I. Ethyl alcohol is beneficial. II. Methylated spirit is poisonous.
• Statement: Humans cannot live without atmosphere and moon is without atmosphere. Conclusions : I. Humans cannot live on the moon. II. Earth must have an atmosphere.

• Statement: The Government has cut the interest rate on the General Provident Fund (GPF) and Special Deposit Scheme (SDS) from 9.5 to 9 per cent. At the same time it has also reduced the interest on loans to government employees by half a per cent. Conclusions : I. Now cheaper funds will be available from the Centre's coffers from those planing to construct or purchase a house or buy a vehicle or computer. II. The government employee will not be ready to invest their money into the scheme.
