Various designations have been specified by the President for the different Union Territories:
(i) Chief Commissioner for Chandigarh
(ii) Administrator for
(a) Lakshadweep and
(b) Dadra and Nagar Haveil
(iii) Lieutenant Governor for
(a) Andaman and Nicobar Islands
(b) Delhi
(c) Daman and Diu and
(d) Pandicherry
The maximum size of the Lok Sabha as outlined in the Constitution of India is 552 members made up of up to 530 members representing people of the states of India and up to 20 members representing people from the Union Territories on the basis of their population and 2 Anglo-Indians are nominated by President.
The number of Parliamentary Seats for the States :
Andhra Pradesh & Rajasthan - Each 25
Maharashtra - 48
Telangana - 17
Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura - Each 02
Uttar Pradesh has the highest with - 80
A change to the Constitution is called as An Amendment.
An Amendment ::
An Amendment is ratified after two-thirds of the House and Senate approve of the proposal and send it to the states for a vote. That Convention can propose as many amendments as it deems necessary. Then, three-fourths of the states must affirm the proposed Amendment.
Subhash C. Garg, a 1983 batch lAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as the new the economic affairs secretary in the Union Finance Ministry. The post fell vacant after Shaktikanta Das retired on May 31, 2017. Currently, Tapan Ray, the corporate affairs secretary, has the additional charge of the economic affairs department. Prior to this appointment, Garg was Executive Director at World Bank for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka.
