A nutrient is a substance used by an organism to survive, grow, and reproduce. These are compounds in foods essential to life and health, providing us with energy.
There are two types of nutrients:
1. Organic Nutrients
2. Inorganic Nutrients
Carbohydrates (CHO), Lipids (fats), Proteins and Vitamins come under organic nutrients as they contain carbon. These can add fat to the body.
Minerals and Water come under inorganic nutrients as they lack in carbon. These cannot add fat to the body.
