  • Question
  • In the following question, two equations numbered 1 and 2 are given. You have to solve both the equations and determine the relation between a and b. 1. 5a2-18a+9=0 2. 3b2+5b-2=0

  • Options
  • A. a >= b
  • B. a <= b
  • C. a < b
  • D. a > b

  • Correct Answer
  • a > b

    Explanation

    From solving 1 and 2 we get,

    1.

    5a(a-3)-3(a-3) = 0

    (5a-3)(a-3) = 0

    a = 3 or 3/5

    2.

    3b(b+2)-1(b+2) = 0

    b = -2 or b = 1/3

    Here when a = 3, a > b for b = -2 and b = 1/3

    when a = 3/5. a > b for b = -2 and b = 1/3.

    Hence, it is clear that a > b.
