  • If in State E population of females above poverty line is 19800 then what is the population of males below poverty line in that State?

  • Options
  • A. 5500
  • B. 3000
  • C. 2970
  • D. Data inadequate

  • Correct Answer
  • 3000

    Explanation

    According to question,
The population of females above poverty line in State E = 19800
    As per given graph,
Proportion of Male and Female above poverty line in State E = 3 : 2
If 2 Female above poverty line then total population above poverty line will be 5 in State E
If 1 Female above poverty line then total population above poverty line will be 5/2 in State E
If 19800 Female above poverty line then total population above poverty line will be 5 x 19800/ 2 in State E
    Population of State E above poverty line = 5 x 19800/ 2 = 5 x 9900 = 49500
Percentage population below poverty line in State E = 10 % ( As given in table chart )
    ? Percentage population above poverty line in State E = ( 100 - 10 ) % = 90 %
    ? Total population of State E = 49500 x 100 / 90 = 4950 x 100 / 9 = 550 x 100 = 55000
Percentage of population below poverty line in State E = 10 %
    Population below poverty line in State E = 55000 x 10 % = 55000 x 10 / 100 = 5500
Ratio of population of males and females below poverty line in State E = 6 : 5
Since population below poverty line is 11 then male population below poverty line = 6
Since population below poverty line is 1 then male population below poverty line = 6 / 11
    Hence population below poverty line is 5500 then male population below poverty line = 6 x 5500 / 11 = 6 x 500 = 3000
