  • Question
  • The ratio of the speeds of A and B is 3 : 4. A takes 20 min more than the time taken by B to reach a particular place. Find the time taken by A and B, respectively to reach that place.

  • Options
  • A. 40 min and 30 min
  • B. 80 min 60 min
  • C. 90 min and 45 min
  • D. 90 min and 50 min

  • Correct Answer
  • 80 min 60 min

    Explanation

    Ratio of speeds of A and B = 3 : 4
    ? Ratio of time taken = 4 : 3
Let time taken by A and B be 4k and 3k, respectively.
    Then, according to the question,
    4k - 3k = 20
    ? k = 20

    Hence, time taken by A = 4 x 20 = 80 min
    And time taken by B = 3 x 20 = 60 min
