Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella has announced the launch of "ElectionGuard", a free open-source Software Development Kit(SDK) to help nations to carry out secure and verifiable voting. Developed by Galois, "ElectionGuard" is a supplement to paper ballots. It is verifiable as it allows the voters and third-party organizations to verify election results. "ElectionGuard" provides a voter a unique code. During the process of voting, voters have an optional step which allows them to track their votes from the moment he/she casts it, after the voter has verified the selections are correct to the final step of counting the votes. It does not work with vote-by-mail systems and is not designed to work with internet voting schemes as it can be easily hacked.

India's largest IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has partnered with the Department of Posts in a bid to transform it into a multi-service digital hub, modernise the delivery of mail and packages, enhance customer experience, and launch innovative services that will drive new revenues. In 2013, TCS had announced receiving an over Rs 1,100 crore multi-year contract from the Department of Posts (DoP) for an end-to-end IT modernisation programme. Core System Integration (CSI) program designed and implemented by TCS, involved deploying an integrated ERP (enterprise resource planning) solution that caters to mail operations, finance and accounting, and HR functions, and connects its vast network of more than 150,000 post offices, making this the largest distributed ePostal network in the world. TCS is the same company that, along with the Ministry of External Affairs, revamped India's passport services through the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) initiative and 'Student Connect'.

Airtel Payments Bank joined hands with Bharti AXA General Insurance for a two-wheeler insurance product offering which is available on MyAirtel App and at over 40,000 Airtel Payments Bank points across India. This offers various benefits like 70 percent savings on an annual premium, personal accident cover, protection against third-party liabilities and inspection-free renewal through a paperless process. Also, Customers can avail towing services at no extra cost on claim intimation, at the time of insured vehicle breaks down. Customers without an Airtel Payments Bank account can also avail this policy and can renew their two-wheeler insurance at Airtel Payments Bank banking point.

PayU, Digital payments security and payment facilitator has acquired Wibmo, a US-based financial technology for USD 70 million to assist the company scale-up its business. Under the agreement, Wibmo will continue to serve all of its clients as a wholly-owned subsidiary of PayU. The accession integrates PayU's strong merchant network and "Wibmo" leadership for digital transaction security solutions to offer payments solutions in India for growth markets.

PayPal India used Google Smart Lock and launched its OneTouch experience in India. OneTouch feature permits Indian consumers to register their android device with PayPal and stay logged into PayPal for further PayPal purchases on that device, thus removing the issue of repeated log-ins and enabling a seamless payments experience. The integration with Google Smart Lock will offer a hassle-free payment procedure as well as maintain security to prevent fraud. India becomes the first market where the feature of Google Smart Lock has been integrated.

UBER unveiled an investment of $1 billion in U.S. company Uber to drive forward the development of driverless ridesharing services. The latest cash injection, expected to close in the third quarter this year, came amid fevered anticipation of Uber's public share offering which is expected to be the largest in the tech sector for years. Toyota has already invested $500 million in Uber as the firm races Google-owned Waymo and a host of other companies, including major automakers, to develop self-driving vehicles.

Bharti Airtel has launched a mobile app, "My Circle" in collaboration with FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) to assist women in case they face any panic situation or problem. The application will allow women to send SOS alerts to any five of their family or friends in 13 languages by pressing the SOS prompt on the app. The app has been developed by Airtel X labs and was conceptualised by an all-women cross-functional team.
