Which Bank launched a paperless account opening facility for NRIs?

On the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), had launched a National Level Entrepreneurship Awareness Campaign, Udyam Abhilasha in 115 Aspirational Districts identified by NITI Aayog in 28 States and reaching to around 15,000 youth. SIDBI will join to contribute to "the transformation mission" unleashed for these districts. The campaign would create and strengthen cadre of more than 800 trainers to provide entrepreneurship training to the aspiring youths across these districts thus encouraging them to enter the admired segment of entrepreneurs.

The government of India has doubled the monetary limit to 20 lakh rupees for filing loan recovery application in the Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRT) by banks and financial institutions. As per the Finance Ministry, the move is aimed at helping reduce pendency of cases in DRTs. There are 39 DRTs in the country. To make the tribunals more effective and to facilitate fast disposal of debt recovery cases, the government has made several amendments in different laws, including the SARFAESI Act.

India achieved another milestone when Indian Stock market overtakes Germany for the first time in seven years to become the world's seventh largest stock market. This move reflects India's positive returns this year as companies dependency on domestic demand enabled them to avoid meltdown in other emerging markets spurred due to U.S. - China trade war. South Asian Giant, India is projected to grow at 7.5 percent in 2018 and 7.3 percent in 2019 whereas Germany managed to achieve a growth rate of only 1.6 percent in 2018. After the exit of United Kingdom from European Union, now European Union has only one country in top seven economies of the world - France.

The government has approved the continuation of the centrally-sponsored umbrella scheme of Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats (CSS-IDWH) till 2019-20. The total outlay is Rs. 1731.72 crore for 2017-18 to 2019-20. The main aim of this scheme is to boost tiger and elephant conservation efforts. The scheme consists of centrally sponsored schemes of Project Tiger (CSS-PT), Development of Wildlife Habitats (CSS-DWH) and Project Elephant (CSS-PE).

The Indian Air Force formally inducted the CH 47 F(I)- Chinook heavy-lift helicopters into its inventory at Air Force Station Chandigarh. IAF had signed a contract with M/s Boeing Ltd in September 2015 for 15 Chinook helicopters. The first batch of four helicopters has been delivered on schedule and the last batch is to be delivered by March 2020. These helicopters will be deployed in the Northern and Eastern regions of India. The helicopter is capable of airlifting diverse military and non-military loads into remote locations.

Qatar defeated four-time champions Japan 3-1 in the final to win their first ever Asian Cup. Qatar forward Almoez Ali broke the record of most goals in a single Asian Cup after netting his ninth goal with an overhead kick, breaking Ali Daei's 1996 record. This was the first time that Japan lost in an Asian Cup final.

The 23rd edition of Asian Athletics Championship was held from 21 to 24 April 2019 at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.A 30- year old Gomathi Marimuthu has won India's first gold medal of the Asian Athletics Championship 2019, in 800m race. She clocked at 2:02.70s, a personal best timing. Her previous best is 2:03.21s in Federation Cup held in Patiala. Wang Chunyu of China and Margarita Mukasheva of Kazakhstan won silver and bronze respectively.

Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) won the CII-Exim Bank Business Excellence Award, for being a role-model organization, at the Quality Summit held in Bengaluru. The Summit was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The company's Bengaluru complex is the first state-run undertaking to be recognized as a role-model organization by the CII. 3 other BEL units at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Chennai in Tamil Nadu and Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh received Platinum recognition for business excellence.

Finance ministry has approved Rs 850 crore investment to upgrade Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR). The sanctioned amount will be invested over FY19 and FY20. Decision came after Centre has started a manpower audit of Prasar Bharati, acting on the recommendation of an expert committee in 2014 led by Sam Pitroda which recommended that Prasar Bharati 'undertake a comprehensive manpower audit and human resources planning exercise to map workforce requirements for the future, in line with the public broadcaster's mandate'.

India's first 'mega-science' exhibition 'Vigyan Samagam' was inaugurated in Mumbai. It is organised by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM). After Mumbai, the exhibition will move to Bengaluru from 7 July, and on to Kolkata and then New Delhi.
