The Environment Ministry banned cattle slaughter and introduced restrictions on the sale of cattle to prevent their killing. Animal markets cannot be set up within 50 km of an international border and 25 km from a state border. All animal markets have to run with the approval of district animal market committee to be headed by a magistrate. A gazette notification, titled Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules, 2017 by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change states that no one can bring cattle to an animal.

Previously, she stood in 15 women's ODIs matches, the first one played between Australia and South Afica in November 2016.She also stood some of the important international matches including semi-final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2018 played between England and India.She was also the first woman to stand ever in a men's domestic fixture in Australia in her first List A match in Australia in 2017.In December 2018, Claire Polosak and her counterpart Eloise Sheridan became the first on-field female umpires during a professional match between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars in World Big Bash League in Australia.

A six-year-old boy from Mizoram Derek C Lalchhanhima,who saved life of a chicken he accidentally ran over, has been awarded the 'Compassionate Kid' award 2019 by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA) India. Derek accidentally ran over his neighbour's chicken. He took the chicken, ran to a nearby hospital in Sairang and with all the money he had and asked for help. A photo of Derek in which he was holding the chicken in one hand and a note of Rs 10 in the other went viral on social media recently which was snapped by a nurse at the primary health centre (PHC) in Sairang in Aizawl district of Mizoram.

Two Indians - an Indian police officer Jitender Kumar deployed to the UN mission in Congo and a consultant Shikha Garg with the UN development programme, killed in the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash, are among 115 UN peacekeepers and staff honoured by the global organisation for their sacrifice. They lost their lives in the service of peace between January 2018 and March 2019. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, along with top UN officials and Peacekeeping personnel paid tribute to 115 peacekeepers from 43 different nations, who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty at the solemn ceremony.
