Who won the Gandhi Peace Prize for the year 2018?

Three US scientists James Allison, Carl June and Steven Rosenberg were declared winners 2018 Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research. They were awarded in recognition of their research in immunology and translation of their ideas into effective therapies that have led to innovative treatments for cancer, HIV and other diseases. They will share this $500,000 medical prize. They will receive the award at the ceremony to be held in September 2018 in Albany, New York.

Union Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot on Friday said the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) has set its seventh Guinness world record with 260 people in Gujarat's Bharuch getting 'Modern Artificial Limbs (Legs)' implanted within eight hours. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2018 with one half to Frances H. The Associated Press won a Pulitzer for international reporting for its coverage of the war in Yemen. Reuters was honoured for international reporting for its coverage of atrocities committed against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Annie Zaidi, an Indian author, has won the 2018 Hindu Playwright Award 2018 for her play 'Untitled' at the 14th edition of The Hindu Theatre Fest at the Taj Coromandel. The award was presented by Ratna Pathak Shah, actor and director. The award, instituted in 2008, carries a prize of Rs 2 lakh for the best original, unpublished and unperformed play script in English.

Mysuru-based C.A. Kuttappa, serving as Subedar in the Army and a resident of Gokulam here, has been nominated for the Dronacharya Award for 2018 in Boxing. Hailing from the Chenanda family, C.A. Kuttappa has been coaching the Indian men's boxing team since 2009 May.

Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) won the CII-Exim Bank Business Excellence Award, for being a role-model organization, at the Quality Summit held in Bengaluru. The Summit was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The company's Bengaluru complex is the first state-run undertaking to be recognized as a role-model organization by the CII. 3 other BEL units at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Chennai in Tamil Nadu and Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh received Platinum recognition for business excellence.

The Government of India has decided to confer the Prime Minister's Shram Awards for the year 2017 to be awarded to 40 workers. They are employed in the Departmental Undertakings & Public Sector Undertakings of the Central and State Governments and Private Sector Units. The awards are in recognition of their distinguished performances in the field of productivity.
