Suppose present age of son = P years
Present age of father = 52 years
According to question,
Father's age at son's birth = son's present age
? 52 ? P = P
P + P = 52 years
? 2P = 52
? P = 26 years
Son's age 8 years back = present age of son - 8 years = 26 ? 8 = 18 years
Age of man at the birth of first son = 31 years
The age of wife at the birth of her son = 26 ? 7 = 19 years
Required difference = Age of man at the birth of first son - The age of wife at the birth of her son
Required difference = ( 31 ? 19 ) years = 12 years
The average age of 19 boys in a class = 21 years
Sum total of ages of 19 boys = 19 × 21 years = 399 years
The average age of 19 boys and teacher in a class = 21 years
Sum total of ages of 19 boys and teacher = 20 × 22 years = 440 years
? Age of teacher = Sum total of ages of 19 boys and teacher - Sum total of ages of 19 boys
Age of teacher = ( 440 ? 399 ) years = 41 years
? = 10 x 5 ÷ 3 - 2 + 3
= 10 ÷ 5 + 3 x 2 - 3
Apply the rule BODMAS
Do things in Brackets First
(Powers, Roots) before Multiply, Divide, Add or Subtract.
Multiply or Divide before you Add or Subtract
= 10 ÷ 5 + 3 x 2 - 3
= 2 + 3 x 2 - 3
Addition
= 2 + 6 - 3
Subtraction
= 8 - 3 = 5
